Yearbook FAQ’s

Which option is easiest to create my yearbook?

All of our yearbook creation options are really easy, and they are all explained on our How It Works page. However, we do think that our Online Creator is the quickest and most effective way to create your fully customised yearbooks.

Are all data and photographs uploaded online secure?

We ensure that we stick to the strict child protection laws regarding data and photographs containing children and all of your photographs are stored on our secure server.

Can I use photographs taken by an external photographer?

If you own the copyright of the photo then they are fine to use. If the photographer/company do, it is best to ask permission from them before you add them to your yearbook. Most photographers will allow you to use them for free; some may incur a small charge.

Why do my photos look blurry?

It may be tempting to simply grab images from your school’s Facebook page or website ‐ but do so with caution ‐ it could be a specific size, too small for your yearbook page, and will therefore stretch and become pixelated.

Similarly, if the images dpi (dots per inch) is too low, the image quality will suffer. We’ve seen firsthand yearbooks with blurry/ low-quality images because they haven’t been high enough and it can put a downer on things. We recommend your images have a DPI minimum of 300 to ensure wonderful print quality.

Always check the photos in your proof before committing to print!

What are the binding options?

We offer three types of binding options for you:

  • Perfect Bound
  • Stitched
  • Hardback

Most commonly, we use (and recommend) perfect bound, which is also known as a paperback – but the cover is of a thicker density and weight than the pages inside. Stitched is very similar, but is for fewer pages, with a more ‘rounded’ finish. We also offer a hardback option for those who want their yearbooks to be more durable. For more information, you can take a look at our Binding Options page.

Business and Financials

How much does a yearbook cost?

There are a number of factors that go into calculating the cost of print. The number of pages, the size of the book, the type of paper and binding, the list goes on. Our full-colour yearbooks start at only £7.99 per copy. This is via. our Design Your Own method.

For books made using our Online Yearbook Creator or if they are to be Professionally Designed by us, please find the prices on our information page dedicated to Yearbook Prices – which also contains a price calculator.

Does my quoted price include delivery?

Yes, delivery is quoted within your order price – or in other words, delivery is free on all orders.

Does my quoted price include VAT?

Our prices are inclusive of VAT, so you will need to claim that back from HMRC once your order is complete, at the end of the month, or at the end of your tax year.

When do we send payment for yearbooks?

There are no upfront payments required when creating a yearbook with us. We will send an invoice to the school on the delivery of your books. We also have an exciting feature that allows parents to purchase their books directly from us, saving you time and hassle – check out the Yearbook Payment Portal.

Can I return yearbooks if they don’t sell?

Unfortunately, we do not accept returns and cannot refund you once your yearbooks have been printed. However, we have set up the Yearbook Payment Portal to make things easier for you if parents will be paying for the yearbooks rather than your school directly. This way, you know how many you will need to print and not be caught out.

Is there a minimum order of yearbooks?

There is no minimum order of yearbooks – so even the Scottish school of Foula Primary (famous for having just one pupil) can enjoy Leavers’ Books!

Production and Delivery

How long will it take to get my books?

All our turnaround times are estimated, but once you have completed your yearbook, we work towards the following time scales:

10 working days for perfect bound and stitched
15 working days for hardback
You can also estimate how long it will take you to complete your yearbook from start-to-finish with our handy Timescale Calculator.

Why do hardbacks take so much longer than paperbacks?

Hardbacks take longer because each cover has to be handmade. They are worth the wait though, the final product is stunning.

How do I order re-prints?

We’ve made the process really simple – you can either speak to your designated account manager, or by logging into your account and ordering more copies.

What type of paper do you use?

We use FSC-certified paper. FSC do incredible work in protecting forests around the world. All of their paper is sources responsibly, and they work closely with the WWF to protect animals and people who call forests ‘home’.
